₣alse Colours

“Color helps to express light, not the physical phenomenon, but the only light that really exists, that in the artist’s brain.”
– Henri Matisse

This project is a collection of infrared/full-spectrum pictures taken in Australia (Melbourne) and Indonesia (Bali).
Highly inspired by the book Infra Realism by photographer Kate Ballis, I eventually decided to make the final leap by converting one of my cameras into full-spectrum. Conventional (visible light) photography is the formation of images with light at wavelenght from 380nm to 750nm — what the human eye can see.
With a full-spectrum conversion, my camera can capture UV, visible and infrared spectrums, from 280nm to 1100nm. Post-editing is necessary for these kind of photographs (basically switch the blue and red in the channel mixer).
I hope the following surreal landscapes will make you want to get started !
